>> How to Buy A Microscope

SELECTING A COMPOUND MICROSCOPE is as easy as 1-2-3...

Select the type of microscope you need or your industry

Select by type of microscope - Our Compound Microscope Assortment has been divided into major categories to make your shopping easy.

These categories include:

Brightfield, Darkfield, Phase-Contrast, Inverted and others

Choose a business application or industry to find the right compound microscope. Major industries or applicatins include:

Veterinary, Laboratory Use, Teaching, Metallurgical, Gemology and many others

Select a Magnification

AmScope offers an industry-leading selection of magnifications. All products are in-stock and usually ship the same day ordered

Select a Camera

We offer a wide variety of Cameras for every application - from student to professional use:

Select a type of camera - Eyepiece, USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 - to name the most popular choices

Choose the Megapixels of the camera - the higher the megapixel count on a camera sensor the greater the amount of detail that can be captured in an image

The Higher the Magnification - The More Detail You'll See

Magnification 40x
Magnification 1000x
Magnification 2500x

Magnification is the ability of your microscope to make small objects seem larger. As the magnification increases the area being viewed will be decrease is size but the detail of the area being viewed will improve.

Amscope microscopes come with multiple magnifications to aid you in finding the proper magnification for viewing each specimen.

Camera Connection Types

When comparing 2.0 and 3.0 there are few major differences. First the transfer rates. USB 2.0 offers transfer rates of 480 Mbps and USB 3.0 offers transfer rates of 4.8 Gbps - that's 10 times faster.

Camera Resolution

The most important factor in ensuring successful microscopic imaging is choosing the appropriate optics and camera for your application that gives you more data and higher image quality. When selecting a microscope camera, it is best to base your decision on the most important requirements for your microscopic observation.

Key Features

  • 40X to 2000X magnification range for studying a range of specimens including hair follicles, cells, and bacteria. 10X and 20X eyepieces provide 8 unique magnification settings.
  • An entry-level biological compound microscope with a 4-lens turret and a simplified traditional layout which is beneficial for students and other first-time users.
  • Unlike many microscopes in its class, the M500 uses DIN industry-standard optics, making it compatible with a large selection of objective lenses and eyepieces.
  • The built-in halogen lamp provides bright, full-spectrum illumination to reduce eye strain

The M500 is a fully-functional entry-level microscope for classrooms and clinics. Unlike many microscopes in its class, it uses DIN industry-standard optics, making it compatible with a large selection of objective lenses and eyepieces. Another feature that sets it apart is its 100X oil-immersion objective lens which provides ultra-high magnification. All of the necessary functionality is present in an intuitive form factor which is ideally suited for classroom use. The microscope uses a traditional layout which is beneficial for students and other first-time users.

The monocular head keeps things simple. The use of a single eyepiece means that no adjustments are necessary for eye alignment or symmetrical focus. The head can rotate 360° for viewing from different positions. Interchangeable eyepieces allow you to change the overall magnification with optional lenses, or use a camera in place of the eyepiece to view microscopic images on a computer monitor or other display.

The objective turret provides instant access to 4 magnification levels to easily focus in on minute details from 40X to 1000X. An additional 20X eyepiece expands the maximum magnification to 2000X with 8 unique levels. This covers magnifications needed for studying hair follicles, cells, and bacteria. These high-quality lenses are achromatically corrected to improve resolution and color accuracy.

The stage is equipped with two clips for holding slides and other specimens in place. The microscope uses independent focus knobs to control coarse and fine adjustments. An adjustable limit-stop mechanism can be used to prevent the lenses from making contact with specimens, preventing damage to the lenses and glass slides.

The microscope is equipped with bright halogen illumination to light the specimen. The sub-stage lamp emits full-spectrum light with a warm color-temperature to limit strain on the eyes. The height-adjustable light-condenser precisely focuses light onto the specimen, with an iris-diaphragm to control contrast and focus depth.
