>> How to Buy A Microscope

SELECTING A COMPOUND MICROSCOPE is as easy as 1-2-3...

Select the type of microscope you need or your industry

Select by type of microscope - Our Compound Microscope Assortment has been divided into major categories to make your shopping easy.

These categories include:

Brightfield, Darkfield, Phase-Contrast, Inverted and others

Choose a business application or industry to find the right compound microscope. Major industries or applicatins include:

Veterinary, Laboratory Use, Teaching, Metallurgical, Gemology and many others

Select a Magnification

AmScope offers an industry-leading selection of magnifications. All products are in-stock and usually ship the same day ordered

Select a Camera

We offer a wide variety of Cameras for every application - from student to professional use:

Select a type of camera - Eyepiece, USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 - to name the most popular choices

Choose the Megapixels of the camera - the higher the megapixel count on a camera sensor the greater the amount of detail that can be captured in an image

The Higher the Magnification - The More Detail You'll See

Magnification 40x
Magnification 1000x
Magnification 2500x

Magnification is the ability of your microscope to make small objects seem larger. As the magnification increases the area being viewed will be decrease is size but the detail of the area being viewed will improve.

Amscope microscopes come with multiple magnifications to aid you in finding the proper magnification for viewing each specimen.

Camera Connection Types

When comaring 2.0 and 3.0 there are few major differences. First the transfer rates. USB 2.0 offers transfer rates of 480 Mbps and USB 3.0 offers transfer rates of 4.8 Gbps - that's 10 times faster.

Camera Resolution

The most important factor in ensuring successful microscopic imaging is choosing the appropriate optics and camera for your application that gives you more data and higher image quality. When selecting a microscope camera, it is best to base your decision on the most important requirements for your microscopic observation.

Key Features

  • An infinity-corrected upright fluorescence microscope with a rotating 6-filter turret
  • Includes 4 excitation filter-blocks: ultraviolet, violet, blue, and green
  • Five magnification levels from 40X to 1000X
  • High-output 100W Mercury-vapor lamp
  • 10MP digital camera and imaging software included

The FM820T-10M3 is an upright fluorescence microscope with transmitted and reflected lighting, a six-filter turret, and an 10MP imaging system. The microscope is built around an infinity-corrected optical system with a 40X-1000X magnification range, and Koehler diascopic and episcopic illumination. The powerful 100W, wide-spectrum, mercury-vapor episcopic illuminator uses a rotary filter-selector which can house up to six fluorescence filter-blocks; already included are ultraviolet, violet, blue, and green excitation blocks. The sub-stage illuminator uses a 30W halogen lamp with field-lens and diaphragm for even, high-contrast lighting.

The backwards, quintuple nosepiece holds five plan-achromatic objective lenses, including: 4X, 10X, 20X, 40X, and 100X (oil). The Siedentopf-design head features a 30° incline, and a 48-75mm interpupillary-adjustment range. A trinocular photo-port provides a stable, dedicated mount for an imaging system. The microscope uses coaxial coarse and fine focus-adjustment, as well as coaxial control over X and Y translation of the 7.2" x 5.6" stage.

The 10MP color digital camera provides a high-resolution imaging solution. The camera captures still images and video, and allows you to view a live stream on your PC. With software available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, it's a multi-platform imaging solution. The included Windows software offers image-development and measurement tools, as well as advanced compositing features such as image-stitching and extended-depth-of-focus. Independent preview and capture resolutions allow you to view high-speed video while capturing high-definition images. For Mac and Linux, there is a lite version with limited processing features.
