Key Features

  • 40X to 800X magnification range for studying a range of specimens including hair follicles, cells, and bacteria. 10X and 20X eyepieces provide 6 unique magnification settings.
  • An entry-level biological compound microscope with a 3-lens turret and a simplified traditional layout which is beneficial for students and other first-time users.
  • Unlike many microscopes in its class, the M400 uses DIN industry-standard optics, making it compatible with a large selection of objective lenses and eyepieces.
  • The built-in halogen lamp provides bright, full-spectrum illumination to reduce eye strain.
  • A mechanical caliper can be attached to the stage for precise movement of slides at high magnifications.

The M400-MS is an entry-level microscope for classrooms and clinics, and includes a mechanical caliper which provides precise positioning when viewing specimen slides. It uses DIN industry-standard optics, making it compatible with a large selection of objective lenses and eyepieces. All of the necessary functionality is present in an intuitive form factor which is ideally suited for classroom use. The microscope uses a traditional layout which is beneficial for students and other first-time users.

The monocular head keeps things simple. The use of a single eyepiece means that no adjustments are necessary for eye alignment or symmetrical focus. The head can rotate 360° for viewing from different positions. Interchangeable eyepieces allow you to change the overall magnification with optional lenses, or use a camera in place of the eyepiece to view microscopic images on a computer monitor or other display.

The objective turret provides instant access to 3 magnification levels to easily focus in on minute details from 40X to 400X. An dditional 20X eyepiece expands the maximum magnification to 800X with 6 unique levels. This covers magnifications needed for studying hair follicles, cells, and some bacteria. These high-quality lenses are achromatically corrected to improve resolution and color accuracy.

The stage is equipped with two clips for holding slides and other specimens in place. A mechanical caliper is included, which can be attached to the stage to precisely position specimen slides. The microscope uses independent focus knobs to control coarse and fine adjustments. An adjustable limit-stop mechanism can be used to prevent the lenses from making contact with specimens, preventing damage to the lenses and glass slides.

The microscope is equipped with bright halogen illumination to light the specimen. The sub-stage lamp emits full-spectrum light with a warm color-temperature to limit strain on the eyes. The light is focused using an Abbe condenser, which has an iris-diaphragm to control contrast and focus depth.
