Key Features

  • 40X to 2500X magnification range magnification for studying a range of specimens including hair follicles, cells, and bacteria. 10X and 25X eyepieces provide 6 unique magnification settings.
  • An entry-level, cordless biological compound microscope with a 4-lens turret and a simplified traditional layout which is beneficial for students and other first-time users.
  • Unlike many microscopes in its class, the M500-LED uses DIN industry-standard optics, making it compatible with a large selection of objective lenses and eyepieces.
  • Cool, energy-efficient LED lighting produces daylight-balanced illumination for natural colors.
  • Equipped with rechargeable batteries, the microscope can be used without being plugged in.
  • Includes The World of the Microscope: a beautifully-illustrated book that will help guide first-time users through the history of microscopes and how to perform experiments right at home.
  • Includes five pre-mounted specimen slides and everything you will need to create your own specimen slides: an assortment of tools to cut, collect, mount, and stain specimens, over 50 blank slides and cover slips, and a bottle of specialized glass cleaner.

The M500-LED is a fully-functional entry-level rechargeable microscope for classrooms and clinics. Unlike many microscopes in its class, it uses DIN industry-standard optics, making it compatible with a large selection of objective lenses and eyepieces. Another feature that sets it apart is its 100X oil-immersion objective lens which provides ultra-high magnification. All of the necessary functionality is present in an intuitive form factor which is ideally suited for classroom use. The microscope uses a traditional layout which is beneficial for students and other first-time users.

The monocular head keeps things simple. The use of a single eyepiece means that no adjustments are necessary for eye alignment or symmetrical focus. The head can rotate 360° for viewing from different positions. Interchangeable eyepieces allow you to change the overall magnification with optional lenses, or use a camera in place of the eyepiece to view microscopic images on a computer monitor or other display.

The objective turret provides instant access to 4 magnification levels to easily focus in on minute details from 40X to 1000X. An additional 25X eyepiece expands the maximum magnification to 2500X with 6 unique levels. This covers magnifications needed for studying hair follicles, cells, and bacteria. These high-quality lenses are achromatically corrected to improve resolution and color accuracy.

The stage is equipped with two clips for holding slides and other specimens in place. The microscope uses independent focus knobs to control coarse and fine adjustments. An adjustable limit-stop mechanism can be used to prevent the lenses from making contact with specimens, preventing damage to the lenses and glass slides.

The LED sub-stage lighting provides cool, energy-efficient illumination. Better yet, the microscope has rechargeable batteries installed, allowing it to operate without being plugged in after a complete charge. The light-source is daylight balanced to produce natural colors for imaging. The height-adjustable light-condenser precisely focuses light onto the specimen, with an iris-diaphragm to control contrast and focus depth.

This kit includes a beautifully-illustrated book that will help guide first-time users through the history of microscopes, and how to perform some experiments right at home. The book provides an insight into the history of microscopic study and the invention of microscopes. Several popular experiments are illustrated and explained to guide you through the scientific process. Our expanded slide preparation kit is included, with everything you’ll need to create your own specimen slides. Five pre-mounted specimen slides are included for instant viewing and to test your new microscope. Once you’re ready to make your own slides, you can use the assortment of tools to cut, collect, mount, and stain specimens like onion skin and cheek cells. Over 50 blank slides and cover slips are included for plenty of experimenting. A bottle of specialized glass cleaner is provided to clean up immersion oil and stains (not intended for children).
