Key Features

  • Low-viscosity immersion oil for high-magnification microscopes
  • Easy application and cleanup make it ideal for beginners and occasional users
  • Refractive index ND=1.515
  • Volume: 1 Oz (30ml)

Cargille Type A immersion oil is the ideal choice for general-purpose microscopy. The low viscosity lends itself to fast, reliable application without the worry of producing bubbles. The easy application and cleanup makes Type A immersion oil ideal for students and occasional users.

Immersion oil is necessary for high magnification microscopy when using oil-immersion objective lenses. Do not use with dry or water-immersion lenses. Immersion oil should also be used on oil-compatible light-condensers when working at high magnifications, as the oil ensures a consistent refractive index throughout the optical path, providing the highest resolution possible. For beginners and occasional users, Type A low-viscosity immersion oil is recommended because of its ease of use. For advanced and frequent users, Type B high-viscosity immersion oil provides better longevity for use with multiple slides without the need to re-apply.

Immersion oil is not soluble in water. To thin or remove, use naptha, xylene, or turpentine, including Sparkle cleaner. Always follow standard safety protocols.
